The default is nothing, you just click "Ok", use this to go into security
and either change the password or disable security.
I always get a red x on the NetNak icon and are using ADSL, what do I do?
This usually can happen when you have a modem as
well as ADSL, DSL etc. Under "Settings & Statistics" - "Properties" on the
right-click menu is an item called "Source", set this to TCP/IP Monitor and have
"Ignore modem connection options" ticked.
How can
I find the scale of the graph?

Can I get the

will display the average data rate for the last minute for several seconds.
How do you find NetNak easiest to have setup?
Personally I have it set to be invisible when there is no connection,
with it docked at the bottom of my screen - I have my Windows bar at the top of
my screen.
I am using Windows 95 dial-up connection and get 0 Bps, why and what can I do
about this?
This is probably due to using a version earlier than V1.2 of Microsoft
Dialup Networking. To get the latest download
MSDUN13.EXE.
I am using Windows 2000 (or Windows XP) dial-up connection and get 0 Bps, why and what can I do
about this?
This is probably due to installing an Internet Explorer upgrade, this appears
to occasionally disable part of the Microsoft Dialup Networking. We believe the solution is
...
To remove then add Dialup Networking.
Dialup Networking is part of Networking under WinNT/2000/XP and so to remove/add it
you need to go into Network in the control panel, under WinNT the service to
remove/add is called "Remote Access Service" - Win2000/XP should be the same name
or very similar.
I have suddenly started getting error message from NetNak, why and what can I do
about this?
This is probably due to a corrupt NetNak.DAT (log file), the best
solution is to close NetNak, delete the log file and restart NetNak. We are
testing the fix for this problem (we have had only one report of this
happening).
I am using WinNT and NetNak very slowly uses more memory, what can I do?
Some Windows NT drivers can cause a very slow memory leak when using
Microsoft's Windows NT Performance Monitoring. You can use
NetNakRestart with NetNak version 5.1 (pre 2003 V1) or higher to keep
freeing the memory lost.
What does 'Enable
"Automatic Low Data Hang-Up"' do?
This is where you set whether NetNak has "Automatic Low Data Hang-Up"
enabled each time you start NetNak running - you can then manually change it on
the right-click menu.
I am going to reformat my hard drive but want keep my setting, how can I do
this?
You need to save the data file, this is usually C:\Program Files\ComSoft\NetNak\NetNak.dat.
You also need to save two parts of the registry, they are:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ComSoft\NetNak
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComSoft\NetNak
To do this you need to run RegEdit, select each of these in turn and "Registry"
"Export" to two different files.
To use what you have saved you need:
- Install NetNak
- Put the data file back into the NetNak directory.
- Add the saved registry setting to the registry (usually by double clicking
each file in turn).
- Now you can run NetNak.
Regarding previous versions of NetNak
When
I start NetNak I get asked if I want an internet connection?
This is a problem only with the unregistered version and is rare, it is
caused by the old ad-sponsoring. The solution is to uninstall the current
version and install the current version. This version is designed not to have
this problem. Update - All ad-sponsoring has been removed (years ago).
After starting NetNak I get asked the following message "NetNak appears to have
the wrong files installed Please try to reinstalling it ..." and reinstalling
the message keep coming up, what do I do?
This is a problem only with the unregistered version and is rare, it is
caused by the version of ad-sponsoring. The solution is to uninstall the current
version and install the current version. Update - All ad-sponsoring has been
removed (years ago).
I just updated Norton AntiVirus and now NetNak appears to have stopped or NetNak
runs really slowly?
This issue has been reported to Symantec. Currently the best work-around is to
disable AutoProtect scanning when "opening, copying or moving" in the options of
Norton AntiVirus - we suggest that you try restoring this setting after your
next antivirus update.
Update: The latest version of NetNak has a fix for this Norton Antivirus issue.
My system crashed and now I get an error when I try to view the log, how can I
correct this?
This problem is automatically corrected in Version 5 (pre 2003 V1),
otherwise you can download
NetNakFixLog,
unzip this in the NetNak directory and run NetNakFixLog.
I have uninstalled NetNak and now always get a error message about not being
able to find NetNak, how can I correct this?
This problem only occurred on Version 3.00.0-3.00.2 (pre 2003 V1). If you
want to install the latest version this will fix it, if you don't want NetNak
installed you can download
NetNakClean,
unzip this and run NetNakClean.
I am using an international version of Windows 9x dial-up connection and get 0
